Make sure air filter is clean!
One of the easiest ways to make certain your system operates efficiently and economically is by regularly cleaning your air filter. There are several different types of air filters and number of possible locations for the air filter. Asks the technician to show you where your air filter is located and which type of filter to use.

Keep grilles and vents clear!
It is important to keep the output vents and intake grilles free of furniture, drapes etc. When they are clear it will reduce the heating & Cooling load on your equipment, providing you with a more economical operation.

Insulate and seal your air ducts!
It is important to keep all duct well insualted and sealed. Having a sealed duct system reduces air leakage to make a more efficient system.

Set your thermostat!
The most efficient operation of your heating (and/or) cooling sytem comes from properly setting the thermostat. Set the thermostat at the lowest winter setting and highest summer setting that you are comfortable with. Typical settings are between 75-78 degrees for summer and between 70-72 for winter. When heating in the winter, your operating expenses increase for each degree your thermostat is raised. When cooling in the summer your operating expenses will increase an average of 5% for each degree your thermostat is lowered.

Control direct sunlight!
Use the sunlight to your advantage in the winter, but keep it out in the summer. In the winter heating months, direct sunlight reduces the the load on your heating system. Make sure window drapes and shades are open to increase the amount of sunlight coming in the room. In the summer use shades and drapes to reduce the amount of direct sunlight coming into to the room. This will lower the cooling load on your air condion system

Make sure your clothes dryer is properly vented!
It is important that your clothes dryer is vented to the outside and away from your outdoor unit. If improperly vented, heat can blow into your house and could cause a fire hazzard. It is important that the dryer vent is away from your outdoor unit to prevent lint and heat being sucked into the unit.

Keep the condensor coil clean!
The condesnor coil should be kept clean to ensure efficient operation. When the coil becomes constrained by paper, grass clippings, lint, dirt or debris the system effiency will weaken.

Be sure to have an air tight home!
Ensure the maximum withholding of heat or cool air by adding insulation to attic and outside walls. Seal all cracks and use storm doors to prevent air leaks.
